Aphrodite was the Olympian goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, sex, and procreation. She was depicted as a beautiful woman often accompanied by the winged godling Eros (cupid).
Aphrodite was the most beautiful of all the goddesses and was said to have sprung from the foam of the sea. Her allure was so powerful that creatures of the earth, sky, and ocean all fell under her spell. In classical sculpture and fresco she was usually depicted nude. When the Roman Empire conquered the Greeks in 146BC, the Romans assimilated various elements of Greek culture, including the gods and goddesses that were worshipped by the Ancient Greeks. Aphrodite was on of the goddesses adopted by the Romans and given the Latin name Venus. This goddess of grace and beauty has been immortalized for thousands of years and as yet another testament to her affect, we created this box in her honor.
